I won’t lie – it’s been a quiet one. Apart from an outing to the osteopath (I have a shoulder problem, not affecting my drinking/eating arm thankfully 😀 ) and a visit to the cinema (the photo at the top of this post will give you a clue about the movie we saw), I’ve mostly been doing stuff at home in advance of our soon-to-be-upon-us annual holiday.
Here are the bookish stats:
Books finished:
- The Cabin at the End of the World – will be writing a proper review but current thinking is awesome but gruelling
- The Hundred Dresses – something light & fluffy & good fun to follow on from the Cabin
Of course this means that I have exceeded my target of 52 books in 52 weeks, which I may just have mentioned before.
Currently reading:
- Night Film – still reading this, will be trying to finish before my hols
- Flowers in the Attic – a book club selection, which I haven’t read before; I must say that I am a bit wary
New books:
- Disappearance at Devil’s Rock by Paul Tremblay – totally due to reading Cabin
- Good Samaritans by Will Carver – “One crossed wire, three dead bodies and six bottles of bleach”
- Unnatural Causes by Dr Richard Shepherd – can’t resist a good book about forensic pathology
- Love, Loss & What I Wore by Ilene Beckerman, and The Secret Lives of Dresses by Erin McKean – inspired by Hundred Dresses of course
I am currently pulling together a selection of Kindle reads for my holiday, which I hope to share in my next Salon post.
Hope you all have a great reading week.
I’m a huge fan of Hundred Dresses. It makes me cry every time.
It’s such a cool thing that you used this book to inspire you to read other books with the same theme.

I think your Hundred Dresses might be a different book? This one is humorous non-fiction. And yes, I do love to go off on reading trails inspired by books I’ve just read.
